For the first time, WAXON Studio is yours for a large number of focused hours! All types of projects possible. Jess is only taking 6 students total, to maximize your workshop time. This is a guided deep-dive of 9 studio hours per person, with instruction whenever needed, and flexible scheduling. You may or may not overlap in the studio with fellow intensive students on each day, since each person chooses their times to come in.

3 non-consecutive days

By working Mon, Weds, Fri during a single week, your piece has a chance to be rinsed and dried between layers so that it’s ready for you to jump right back in at your next session.

FAQs

  • All dyes, wax, tools, instruction, and space to work! And of course, Jess will remove the wax for you and do the final laundering, so you can pick up gorgeously finished projects. Your pieces will also be processed between work days, i.e., if you’re doing multilayered designs, Jess will rinse and hang dry for you so that your piece is ready for you to just pick right back up on your next day.

    The only thing not included is your fabric/blanks! WAXON has plenty of options for purchase but you will be given any needed guidance to finding your own special blanks if needed (i.e., yoga pants, a tunic, linen yardage etc).

    WAXON has no housing options, so if you’re coming from out of town, please secure your own housing and transportation to/from 726 Haywood Rd. West Asheville has plenty of walkable Airbnb options and even a hostel!

  • $600 for 9 active hands-on hours with instruction available, allowing you to do higher-level projects than our standard 2-hour intro to batik class. This includes all processing of your pieces behind the scenes— all you have to do is design, play, and dye!

  • This intensive should meet your needs, so we are making our studio available to you on Monday 8/18, Wednesday 8/20, and Friday 8/22, in 3-hour slots, from 11am onwards.

    Want to come 12-3? Great! Would 1:30-4:30 be better? No problem! Jess will work with each person to make sure each work day has the space and time you need. The studio will not be open to any other classes or students during the intensive.

    Also, you have up to 9 hours to use, so if you’d rather do 2 hours on one day and 4 on another, that works just fine.

  • This is the inaugural intensive, so we have to see how it goes! The dream would be to offer this structure once per season, or quarterly. Perhaps it gets so popular we do it once a month! Stay tuned, get in touch, let us know what your needs & ideas are.

  • This would be a wonderful way to dive into batik for the first time— no limits on what you could learn! Students with experience, especially those who have taken WAXON’s 2-hour intro class, will be particularly excited to come back and do more than just 1 layer. We have more stamps than ever and more space to play than ever before!
