You know how when you do something for the first time, it always seems to take forever? That's exactly where I am with creating my first online course. I have so much content I want to give you, I have so many years of experience doing this in person, in my studio… And making the leap to teaching to my camera and editing and uploading is just… It feels like it's taking forever! (anyone else know the feeling??) in the meantime, I finally have all the photos in this pretty little grid to show you. Weeks in the making, one little shirt, but LOTS of content behind it!
for a few weeks now, I've been working on a series of new pieces for my exhibition this April. (Why am I working on a show that's still five months away, you ask? The answers are in this video!). One of my favorites from this batch is coming right along, and just got its second layer of wax today. Check out these photos of before and after I added the second layer of wax. now for the most exciting part… Deciding which color to put it in for the final dye bath!
I absolutely love my tjanting tools... even though they're kind of cheapies, they've been with me for years & years, and they're what I originally trained with when I learned to batik in the early 2000s. This tool had sort of a "loose tooth" thing going on... so I smashed it! Only sort of joking; I did use another tool I had on hand (my table scraper) to pound on the loose brass and hopefully create a permanent fix. Back to the hot wax pot!
