Woodburning (also called pyrography- literally "drawing with fire") is the art of using applied heat onto a natural surface. It can be used to create all kinds of functional and wearable beauty! Shibori is a form of Japanese immersion resist dyeing that we use to create simple but beautiful repeating patterns on natural fabrics.

Students in this workshop will get to practice pyrography by woodburning a pair of earrings (or alternatively, a necklace pendant), ready to wear and take home by the end! Design templates and instructions on how to transfer them will be included, as well as basic pyro techniques and safety.

In the Shibori area, students learn to fold, clamp, twist, or bind a 28” square cotton flour sack towel and immerse it into a dye bath that you choose the color of… 24 colors to choose from! All materials and tools will be provided, no experience is necessary to register.

Come learn to burn and Shibori dye on the same day for this unique dual-skill workshop in a fun and creative environment.
